Orthodontics For All Ages
Orthodontics For Kids
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends kids see an orthodontist for their first orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven. By this time, most kids will have a mix of baby teeth and permanent teeth, making it easier for orthodontists to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems before they have the chance to become more severe.
As a parent, you want the best for your child—and that includes healthy teeth and a beautiful smile. At Elyria Orthodontics, our goal is to treat your children as if they were our own. If your child has a dental issue, please set up a free consultation. We’d love to discuss your child’s orthodontic options and develop a treatment plan that is customized to your child’s needs.
Orthodontics For Teens
The teen years are the most common time for orthodontic treatment because most permanent teeth will likely be in place. Dr. Marshall will be able to easily recognize issues with spacing, crowding, bite, and alignment in this age range, and your teen’s bone and jaw structure are formed enough to allow orthodontic treatment to begin.
Untreated dental problems can have a lasting impact on your teen’s oral and overall health. If your teen has any dental issues, we recommend a scheduling a complimentary consultation with Dr. Marshall to see how orthodontics could benefit them.
Orthodontics For Adults
Orthodontic treatment isn’t just for children and teens. One in every five orthodontic patients is over the age of 21. Many adults are seeking out orthodontic treatment later in life because they understand the importance of maintaining their oral health and they want to gain confidence by attaining their dream smile.
Dr. Marshall offers multiple orthodontic treatment choices for adult patients including Invisalign® and clear braces, and she will suggest the best solution to fit your lifestyle. It’s never too late to invest in your smile, and we would love to be your partners in your smile transformation.
Traditional metal braces are what most people envision when they think of braces. Metal braces are still by far the most popular orthodontic treatment option. In recent years, there have been significant technological advancements in these types of braces that have decreased their size and thickness providing for increased comfort and oral hygiene.
For those who want straight teeth but don’t want the look of metal braces, we offer clear (ceramic) braces. They’re just as effective as traditional braces, but they are much less noticeable.
While invisible braces cost a little more than metal braces, they are virtually unnoticeable, which is a huge advantage for teens and adults who don’t want the look of metal in their mouths.
For some adults, orthodontic treatment alone cannot fully correct their orthodontic problem. They may also need surgery in combination with orthodontic treatment to achieve a functional, healthy bite. Surgical orthodontics is corrective jaw surgery performed to remedy skeletal problems that affect the ability to bite, chew and speak.
If surgical orthodontic is appropriate for your treatment plan, Dr. Marshall will work in conjunction with a local oral surgeon to position your jaws and teeth for optimal esthetics and function.
Botox is a treatment that not only smooths out wrinkles, but also offers many other benefits. It can be used to manage chronic migraine and bruxism (the clenching or grinding of teeth) as well improve gummy smiles!
